As my local country show, Lambeth Country Show, had to go virtual this year, I gave a short talk on “weeds” in our cities, and on how learning to live with wild plants could benefit us in many ways.
Watch it here, and please feel free to send me your comments!
Dear Sophie,
Congratulations on your most excellent efforts to ‘wild our streets’..
Please check out this link to “Daisy and the Wonder Weeds” a new musical championing our wild medicinals.

Keep up the good work,
Please let me know how I can help you.

Hi sophie
I’ve just moved to oxford and would love to have a walk around where I live to identify the plants. It’s probably too far though? How many people would it be safe to have on the walk?
I think what you are doing is brilliant.
All the best
Cathy

Hi Cathy, depending on where you are planning to do the walk (how wide the pavements are for example), I would suggest probably keeping the walk to 5-6 people so that it remains manageable and safe. I did a “remote” walk for a community group, with someone in East London walking around the street and pointing at plants, while I was in my living-room identifying them, which was quite fun (have a look here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TL5ha4euvmQ&t=301s). I’m always happy to help with identification.

THANK YOU
Multi species – plants / wildlife – like Indiaaaaaah! Having visited that country (may they NEVER change their ways – which is that all creatures great and small equal) let’s change our city country design to be all inclusive – in India there were so many dimensions to life unlike here where most folk have been taught just 3 – me, me, me!
Fantastic educational movement Love ❤️ you!

Thank you so much for the support! Yes, it’s all about inclusivity. We are part of the nature in our cities, and we have to learn to respect and love it 🙂

Bonjour Sophie, can you help me find online your idea of weeding your pavement in town for City Council not to look after it? Is it something you did in writing with Council? I listened to your interview on RNZ, I live in Gisborne, Aotearoa NZ. Thanks for the interview, awesome perspective!
